Million Paws Walk

Million Paws Walk, RSPCA, Fund Raising, Tambourine Mountains

Sunday 20th of May 2012 – Million Paws Walk is on again!

Last year’s annual RSPCA Million Paws Walk was held across Australia on Sunday 15th of March 2011.  Now in its 19th year, it will again be a great fun day for all animal lovers on Mount Tamborine and all across Australia!  Thousands of people all around the Country follow the RSPCA’s invitation to join like-minded people and their pets for a big day out!

With the active and committed help of the local Tamborine Mountain MPW team and local businesses, the Million Paws Walk raised last year over $6000 for the RSPCA. Helping the RSPCA to raise much needed funds is the main reason for everyone to grab their pet (it’s not just for dogs!) and “walk their talk”.

Can we go now, can we go now?

Anyone can participate – young and old, families and friends, or neighbours, teams and corporate teams.

Last year, perfect weather on the day was a welcome change from the otherwise quite wet weather conditions encountered on Tamborine Mountain over the previous few weeks.  Over 400 dogs (well, and their owners, of course!) gathered on Geissmann Oval, with the excitement building for the kick-off at 10am.

And if someone didn’t have a dog, it didn’t seem to matter – many people just went along for the fun incl. entertainment, displays, stalls, giveaways and a host of other activities. All sorts of doggy merchandise was available on the day including t-shirts, caps, dog coats and much more.

May the force be with you...

The North Tamborine Million Paws Walk will again offer two different routes, both returning to Geissmann Oval. There is a very leisurely 2.5 km circuit, but for the more ambitious a 5km loop will be staked out, taking in Curtis Falls, Eagle Heights, Long Road and Curtis Road.

Many of the dogs participating in the walk had come from the RSPCA and AWL (Animal Welfare League) shelters after being either abandoned or surrendered by their previous “owners”.
