The GarterBelts & Gasoline Nostalgia Festival will be held after the Labour Day long weekend in May 2012. The festival is a celebration of the cars, music, art, movies and culture born form the 1940s and 1950s. The weekend will feature the hot rod carnivale, vintage markets and traders, live rockabilly, western swing and roots music, a vintage soap box derby, pin up booth, “kustom kulture art” exhibition, nostalgia movies and much much more. This is a chance to dress up and escape the rat race of the daily grind in a picturesque part of the world.

FESTIVAL HEADQUARTER
We are proud to announce that “St Bernards Hotel” will be the official head quarters for Garterbelts & Gasoline 2011, there will be three nights of live music, great food and friendly staff to make us all feel welcome.
Right next door to St Bernards is “Mt Tamborine Motel”. Chris and Vicki will be our hosts, as the staff, volunteers and performers choose to stay here, as it is right next door to the main music venue. Rooms are limited, so get in early if you want the premium spot to stay.
ACCOMMODATION
On this website you will find the best accommodation suppliers, all of who are supporting the move of the Festival to the top of the mountain, there are many different places to stay on Tamborine Mountain, ranging from beautiful camp sites to classy B&B’s, as well as cottages / chalets and hotels / motels.
TRANSPORT
The perfect way of getting around the mountain if you don’t want to drive everywhere - Tamborine Trolley Tours! The wonderful staff at “TM TOURS” are have put together “The Garterbelts & Gasoline Festival Explorer Pass”. You will be able to purchase one ticket and you will be able to ride the trolleys around all week end to and from the different venues, you will be able to leave your ride safe and sound after a few beers, ride the trolley back to your accommodation and grab it the next day. “TM TOURS” also do transfers to and from the Gold Coast if you want to leave the car at home altogether. MUSIC
There will be bands playing at StBernards Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights and at the Hot Rod Carnivale on Sunday. We are pleased to announce the following line-up:

Hot Rod Car Show
HOT RODS, CUSTOMS AND BIKES
The Hot Rod Carnivale will take place at the Tamborine Show Grounds on Sunday the 1st of May. The show will be open to Pre 1970 Hot Rods, Customs, Stockers, Beaters and British and European bikes. The day will include the art exhibition, the Pin Up Booth by Helen Mclean, Vintage Markets, Food Stalls, a Licensed Bar (strictly no BYO please)The Little Miss GarterBelts & Gasoline Awards for young ladies 12 years and under, Live music all day and some surprises to come.
PIN UPS
The Pin Up contest will take place at St Bernards Hotel on the Saturday night, with some great prizes from the sponsors “Cruzin Magazine” (QLD), “Helen McLean Photography” (VIC) and “RedStripe Clothing” (WA).
ART SHOW
The art exhibition will take place at the Tamborine Show Grounds Hall over four days, Artists will be able to display and sell their Kustom Kulture and Automotive Art in the charming old world hall. The Show is open to Paintings, Photography, Carvings, Sculptures and Pin Striping.
Live Music on all three nights!
MOVIES
Hot Rod Lifestyle and Nostalgic movies will be screening at the stunning Zamia Theatre and you will even be able to have a beer or wine will watching a laid back flick!
THE VINTAGE SHOP TOUR AND HIGH TEA
Your host will be Mistress Chrissy from The Lindy Charm School For Girls, your mission will be to take part in a high tea and live it up, then be guided on an Antique Shop tour of Tamborine Mountain with the lady herself as your guide and hostess, then finish of with a glass of bubbly!
THE VINTAGE SOAP BOX DERBY
This is cool, we are working on hosting a Vintage Soap Box Derby on the mountain on Saturday morning, the wonderful local police have given the go ahead to close off a road that could have been purpose built to hold such a race!
We are looking for interested parties to be involved in the planning and running of what could become one of the coolest nostalgia events around, so if you are keen to help or offer some constructive advice on rules and regulations of such an event, please contact the organisers (details below), otherwise get planning and building your Vintage Soap Box Racers! There will be one class for the kids and one for the “big kids.”
This will be a family event and a great way to encourage our young ones away from the TV and Video games and out the the shed with mum and dad to design and build something cool and special ! More updates on this to come in the new year.
